Georgetown Interview

Post by Mike12188 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 9:14 pm

"Based on the strength of your application, the Admissions Committee would like to invite you to interview with one of our alumni."

Anybody else get this email today or recently?

I'm assuming it's because I'm a splitter.

Got it last year, and I was a splitter as well. Interviews are for borderline applications. Good luck!

When did you submit your application? I've been complete since the 12th. I wonder if I can safely overreact and assume this means "rejection."

Sounds like splitters and reverse splitters get the interview. I wonder if they automatically do it based on numbers, or if someone's read our applications yet.

To instill fear into the minds of splitter and borderline applicants.

I actually went out and bought a suit for it, and am super nervous.

Interview for me as well, 3.1/177. I'm scheduling for sometime next week, hopefully the turnaround after the interview is pretty quick!

For anyone who's already interviewed, how did it go? what kinds of questions did they ask?

How long did it take between your completion date and the date they notified you of the opportunity to interview?

I submitted on 10/1 and went complete 10/5 (they were waiting on another letter of rec but I told them to go ahead and complete my file). I (and I'm pretty sure everyone who's gotten one so far) got the interview request 10/22

Awww I didn't get one - well, looks like I'm rejected. Probably wasn't a tough call for them with my baseline stats.

Mine took almost 2 weeks whereas others got it in a few days. Georgetown contacts the alum, provides them with your info, and asks them to contact you (mine called me). Then it is between you and the alum to set up a time and place for the interview. The alum who is interviewing me is pretty busy which is why I think it took so long for him to contact me.

How did your interview go?

I received the interview request almost two weeks ago and as of today, I have yet to be contacted by an alumnus/a. I will probably give it 3 weeks from the date I received the request and then inquire to GULC about the status of my interview.

Haven't done it yet. I have it at the end of next week (alum was busy and that was the earliest he could do that worked with my schedule). 3 weeks seems like a safe bet to contact GULC.

The interview is for splitters and borderline applicants, I was interviewed last year and I was not a splitter. Don't be nervous about the interview. My interviewer told me that they gave him absolutely no guidelines and just asked him to write something up at the end...my interview ended up being him selling GULC for an hour and a half and then just asking me some questions about my resume and PS. I think he was trying to figure out if I was serious about law school or just applying because I didn't know what else to do. It was super casual and it ended up being more about my interviewer's experience at GULC rather than a formal interview.

My interviewer also said if they request an interview, it probably means they are inclined to accept you but just want to make sure by getting some face time with you. I got in, and the other guy I know who interviewed also got in. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Just had my interview, mine was REALLY casual and I think it gave me a lot of opportunity to elaborate on why I'm interested in Georgetown and to help explain some weaknesses in my application. Basically just talked about the things on my resume and spent a lot of time on questions that I had about the school. Plus my interviewer was a very recent graduate which was great to learn more about what the school is like now. I'm really hopeful that it'll turn out well!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
