"Why X" essay for ED applicant?
suppose you are applying to a reach school ED and they do not solicit (or prohibit) "Why X" essays. should I go ahead and write a brief 1 page one or just not write one at all since I am ED? Or should I definitely write one since it's a reach for me?
the reason I feel like i'll have to write a "Why X" essay for the school anyways is because they have a max 2 page limit on the PS and I've reached that limit so there is no room at all for me to include anything personal about the law school (aside from merely mentioning its name once at the end) in the PS - would that not be bad, even if I am applying ED?
thanx

I'm wonderidn the same thing. Can't you use the Why X essay to sell yourself to that school specifically, even though they know you'll matriculte if accepted?

If they don't say something like "you can attach any and all other information you like" then don't do it. If they do then you might be okay.
Generally it just isn't worth it to include the "Why X?" for an ED, but if it's well written then I would say it is probably worth it. That said, if it is even a hint of crappy, mediocre, or disingenuous then don't include it.

I did one for my ED to UVA and was told by admissions that it helped their decision.

1 page long, and it was pretty persuasive as to why Virginia was my #1, including ties to the area. I agree with others who have stated that no Why X essay is better than a poor one.
