Won't Fit

Post by curly3426 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 1:29 pm

A lot of the primary applications ask for awards/extra-curricular activities - but don't provide enough room to write them all in

should I attach / what is customary

I mean, you don't want to force it and ruin a good thing - but if you put your mind to it I'm sure you can make it fit

Start with any Nobels, then Pulitzers, then Presidential Medals of Freedom, next list military honrs such as the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, etc., move on to Emmys & Tonys, college honors & awards, high school distinctions, gold & silver stars from elementary school & finish with refrigerator art.

Exactly. I also abbreviated some things on the app if it was a well known abbreviation.

First off, you're not a unique case. I know plenty of people who had 8 different jobs over the span of their collegiate career.

Second, I can't think of a school I'm applying to that didn't ask you to attach a resume, so just put whatever doesn't fit in the application on the resume.

If you had acted professionally, you wouldn't have done so much bouncing between jobs.

I hear they don't take idiots too often. You'd better start thinking about Barry or Nova.

A more serious note, consider listing acting activities as one line.
"Acted in 18 plays & theatre productions 2007-2010."
"Won several awards for acting including an Emmy."

If you apply to Yale with a lengthy list of acting & production activities & awards, they may transfer your application to the MFA folks.
