Re: Emory 1L taking questions.
Everything..
How's the atmosphere? Collegiality? I'm guessing you can't speak to job prospects yet but does it seem fairly sad there considering some of the things said about job prospects coming out of Emory?

Do all male students at Emory consider themselves studs?

Thanks for doing this.
How would you describe/rate your professors and peers? And I second the question regarding the perceptions on job prospects considering the ATL article and buzz on this board. Lastly, is there any noticeable atmosphere or culture that you have picked up on?

NO F'CKING DOUGHNUTS?!? WHAT THE HELL KIND OF SCHOOL IS THIS???emorystud2010 wrote:The professors so far have been fantastic. They are very friendly, aren't very harsh at all with the socratic (one only does it once in a while as a joke), and they all really want to help you learn the material. The only scary part really is when they talk about the 3.17 curve, but that's just the way it is. Other Emory students have been OK so far. It is definitely a high school atmosphere, so u have to be careful about rumors, but overall ppl are generally pretty nice/chill. I will say that the cliche-ness is a little extreme (which is really typical for any part of Emory for some reason) and there r a few ppl who are somewhat "fake," but everyone generally gets along.DaveBear07 wrote:Thanks for doing this.

As for the ATL article, it has been brought up by a few students, but it has generally been disregarded. I heard the girl who sent the letter wasn't exactly a great student/person, so she really only hurt herself in sending the letter (btw, i haven't seen doughnuts at any event). Everybody seems to be cautiously optimistic going forward bc of the economy starting to rebound a little and the administration providing ample opportunities for decent networking events.
