If you took a break during UG, do u need to report this?
If someone takes a break between sophomore and junior years, will this matter to law schools, and will they have to report it on the application?

Most schools ask specifically is there is a break in your academic record. If they do you should report it. If you look at my transcript you won't see a break but i did miss 3 months of school and had to make up finals so I reported it, only because my PS had something to do with breaking my neck and missing school.

Go ahead and write a quick addendum since almost all schools ask for explantation (I took a break too).

What if it was due to financial hardship? I can sum up why I took a break during the fall semester of senior year (only had 6 credits left to graduate, so I ended up graduating on time anyway) in approximately one sentence. Something along the lines of:
Unfortunately, due to financial hardship, I was unable to attend school during the fall semester of my senior year. During that time, I worked and applied for scholarships so that I would be able to return to school in the Spring. I had accumulated approximately a semester's worth of extra credits by taking Advanced Placement classes in high school, as well as taking more than the required number of credits for every semester up until that point. Therefore, even though I was delayed a semester, I was still able to graduate on time with the rest of my class.
Do you all think that would be acceptable?

Thanks, but UGH! My reason for the break is that my admission offer was later withdrawn due to my own negligence in not getting in a required document on time to the UCSD Admissions Office. Even if I explain this, won't it look to law schools that I'm irresponsible? I'm literally not in school for a year because of that careless yet severe error.
