Asking Current Prof for LOR
Wondering how common it is to ask a professor that you have not yet finished a course with for a letter or recommendation. I should do well (A) in the course, so I was thinking that if I asked about a month before finals the prof should have enough to say about me to give a good letter.

If you have no one else this seems fine. Although, if there is someone else I would go with them as they have something a little more tangible to go off of. But overall I don't see a problem with this.

Re: Asking Current Prof for LOR
There are maybe 2 or 3 professors that I could ask, but I got a B in their class and it just seems weird to ask since I know I could have gotten an A if I put a little more effort into it. Anyone else out there ask a professor for an LOR that they hadn't yet finished a course with?

Re: Asking Current Prof for LOR
I asked a current prof, but it was someone I'd taken several classes with previously.
I think asking someone you've just met is a pretty bad idea. They're supposed to detail how well they know you and how long they've known you, and it would be pathetic if your LOR said, "Yeah, I've been teaching this kid for about 4 weeks, and he seems pretty cool. He's never taken a midterm with me, much less a final, but extrapolating from how eager he seems in class, I imagine that he'd do pretty well."
Have you never gotten an A in your entire college career?
