Apply now and if you get chosen as a finalist send an updated resume reflecting this. You won't get any flat out rejections from here until November. In the meantime you can get some acceptances from schools who would admit you regardless.

You won't hear back by mid November. Just send them an update if you make the finals or whatever.

Your advisor gave you bad advice (as most pre-law advisors do).
