Taking Easy classes my last semester...

Post by ns77770 » Sat Oct 02, 2010 10:05 pm

I was wondering if it could be alright for me to take two non-academic classes my last semester in college. They would be something along the lines of a swing dancing class, a history of beer class etc. Both of these classes interest me and I have only taken academic classes thus far, and I was wondering if law schools would look down on me taking these.

No, they won't care. Just make sure you graduate.

I do not believe that they would say anything unless you had a significant drop in your grades. In any event, if they give you credit to graduate then it should be fine. Interestingly enough for my last semester i am going to try and take as many 300 -400 classes so that i can simulate what law school is like.

Doesnt matter. Get good grades and thats it. GPA is all that matters.

Good luck!

good job. schedule as many fun and easy classes as you can. noone cares about how hard or easy the class is, only how you performed in there. Dont get fooled though. Sometimes the easy freshman type classes have more work required than meets the eye.

12 credits, including 1 credit of music lessons and another of ballroom dance. Yeah, it feels good.

Yeah I know I just registered for my Spring courses and when I looked for classes outside the ones I usually take, I hit gold.

Are you applying this cycle or next?

I think it could make a difference if you are applying to YHS, Chicago.

I plan on taking a photgraphy class next semester! :D

Also, it doesn't matter. Might as well take something enjoyable/unique since you won't have that chance again.

Hey, I was told by an advisor at Emory Law that they were more concerned with my core GPA and not my projected second semester senior classes. In short, dude just graduate.

Good Luck!

I only need about 10 credits (including a health class) so Im filling up space with classes like Piano or Pilates. I event thinking about taking Volleyball II.

As long as you dont crash and burn and fail to graduate, you should be good to go.

I took a bunch of those types of classes. It doesnt matter. At All. Unless you manage to get a horrible grade- and your gpa suffers as a result. other than that- as long as you perform well you are fine.

I would recommend to a freshman to take a class like this every semester in all honesty. I have taken racquetball, dance, Ken Po, scuba diving, etc. and it is great. At my school there is no extra charge for tuition beyond 12 credits and maybe a nominal fee so it seems like a great deal to take a fun class. I have gotten a couple A-'s in there, but at 1 credit a piece it doesn't hurt much. I would do whatever the stupid assignment was that I missed if I had to do it again. I can't imagine an adcom sitting around and saying "wait a second, this guy picked up his purple belt and got credit for it!!! Reject him!!" But what the hell do I know.

Alright, awesome. And just for clarification, if my school DOES count these as credits and counts them in the gpa, so does LSAC right?
