Which one is better?

Post by yngblkgifted » Wed Sep 15, 2010 6:49 pm

I already have one LOR. For my second academic LOR, would a letter of reccomendation from my academic advisor who has been working with me on my honors research project/ thesis ( known them for roughly 2 semesters/ and we meet on a weekly basis)or a professor who I've had for one semster (who I feel could write me a good letter) be better?

The main question is: do adaemic adviors count as much as professors do as far as academic LOR are concerned or are the worse or better? Do you have to be "taught" by the faculty member for them to be considered academic?

I got a LOR from my thesis advisor, but my thesis was done, and he was one of the graders. If you are still working on it and the advisor cannot comment on a finished product, I would go with the professor.
