LOR's - If you have them should you send them?

Post by thatjuanguy » Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:16 am

Some of the T14 obviously have different LOR requirements than other schools - Michigan, NU, Berkeley(are the ones I know of off the top of my head - these require 0/1.

Everything I have ever heard about Michigan, for example, is that even thought they require 1 its suggested that you send 3.

My question is for schools that only require 1(or 0) is it better to just send the 2 you have or is it actually okay to not submit any? Also, at the end of the day do you all think it really matters?

Every school has a number that they "Recommend" and you would probably be foolish to not submit that many. If they recommend 2 however and you choose to submit 3, there might be a dilemma. Many on TLS would say in that case you can only hurt yourself by sending more.

Send as many as they request/recommend and keep the rest for later when you're on the WL.
