GWU questions re:family on app

Post by Eugenie Danglars » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:38 am

The GWU asks for info on your parents, which seems pretty common. The weird thing is that the next question (#24) asks permission to discuss your app with family members and/or your recommenders. I'm not really cool with them calling up my mom, but I don't mind them checking with my recommenders.

What's up with this?/What do I do?

I can't believe adcomms would really take the time to contact someone's parent about an applicant. They have so many apps to review and probably don't look at all the other, more important info in enough detail.

But, that is a weird question.

I guess you just have to mark "yes."

I was wondering too... especially since I'm in my late 20s, married, and live 800 miles away from my parents.

Prob going to ask your spouse then.

If you have kids, they'd surely interview them.
