Cardozo January program
Hey,
would love any info about the january program - what kind of numbers do applicants have - is it easier to get into than fall admission - does losing a summer to classes hurt job prospects.... but really any info would be helpful!
Thanks!

It's a horrible law school. Don't to unless you have a full $$$, and if your smart enouph for that, you could get a t14. It's not easier to get in the Jan program (it's the same average program for average students).
It's a toilet law school.

Cardozo is a great school if you want to work in New York or if you are interested in IP, media, and another of their specialties. To answer your question, OP, I think we would need some more information to assess your chances. What is your GPA? Have you taken the LSAT yet, and if so, what is your score?

Re: Cardozo January program
There is frankly no reason to do it other than impatience.
If Cardozo is really where you want to go, you will probably have better scholarship opportunities applying in the fall. Even then, I would caution against Cardozo. It wouldn't be awful, except it's heinously expensive and in the most expensive city in the U.S. All this coupled with the fact that you are competing against an absurd number of people clamoring for work in NYC. Assuming you get the LSAT score you think you will, I see very little reason to go to Cardozo.

School specialties are pretty much meaningless- this is especially true when you are talking about schools that are notorious for being pipelines into document review sweatshops.Cardozo is a great school if you want to work in New York or if you are interested in IP, media, and another of their specialties.

Cardozo is a fine school... if you can't get in to somewhere better.
Don't sacrifice your eventual employment prospects based on impatience. With those stats (depending on your actual LSAT) you can get into much better schools.

Re: Cardozo January program
thanks guys.... I believe impatience is driving me to get into the january program... girlfriend is in NYC while I am still in BOS - I love the city
but maybe a better approach is to get a job until next fall
why do you think scholarships are better in the fall than for the january program? My impression was that they had a hard time filling all the january spots - but I may be wrong
thanks again

Yea, good choice. There is no rush to start law school, especially if its for only a mediocre school like Cardozo. Good luck with your cycle!curly3426 wrote:thanks guys.... Maybe what I'll do is apply for their MAY entrance - that way, i would be able to hear from other higher ranked schools
