For those with A+'s on your transcript.......

Post by bmonuscg » Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:54 am

For those with A+'s on your transcript.....does your Undergrad school count these as a numerical 4.0 or a higher number?

I know LSAC counts these A+'s as 4.33. I am just wondering because my undergrad didn't offer A+'s but gave out a grade of "H" for a very high A, but it was still a numerical 4.0.

Any info. is appreciated.

At my school, A+ was still 4.0.

Ugh. At my school there were no A+ and there were also few teachers that used the +,- system. So, in many classes it was either get an A or a B or a B or a C. No B+, A-. You can guess how much this DRASTICALLY affects LSAC GPA. It really sucks!

My school uses exactly the same system as LSAC, so an A+ was a 4.33.

No offense - by "you" I really just mean LSAC and those who benefit from their madness

more power to you if you got some of those A+s and they are helping you out

Haha same. I wish I was in a school that had no +/- since my GPA would be over 3.5 instead of the 3.42 it is.

You are possibly the first person ever to use the word "you" improperly.

I think systems with no plus/minus are generally fair or with pluses AND minuses, but I think it's just flat-out wrong to have an A- but no A+. Sorry, man.

These days if I use any words in anger, correctly or incorrectly, what I likely acutally am referring to is the LSAC

A+ is 4.0 for graduation GPA sadly.

I am very happy LSDAS will give my 4.33 for it!

my ug counts A+s As and A-s all as 4.0

A+s are very rare though, and you will only get 4 or 5 throughout the entire school each semester

LSAC's system is so messed up, precisely because it disadvantages so many students. I'm in the same place a lot of your are--I only received one A- my entire time in college and never, despite scoring above 100% in one class, got an A+. Some teachers used the minus because they thought it would motivate you, or show you that you were on the edge, but they would rarely use the "+" simply because it was meaningless.

At my university, an A+ is only a 4.0, but that's because you are rewarded with an A+ if you get above 90%.

A+ was a 4.0 at my school - so my GPA went up considerably when I sent in my final transcripts to LSAC.

My first UG didn't offer an A+ at all. My current UG offers it, and I've gotten it a few times, but it is still a 4.0. It kind of stinks, because I've had a few A+ grades at my first UG that could really hook me up right now.

since so many law schools have different curves for their grades, you think LSAC (and law school adcomms) would think that UG institutions would grade differently as well, and LSAC would let UG GPAs stand as they are given.

There are not many ways to make the current system worse, but this is one of them.

Umm not having A- and only having A's would be awesome for some students....

Meant I could have just barely hit a 3.7 A- average but came out with a 4.0. Its a lot easier to avg 90 instead of 94.

I personally would prefer a no +/- system.
