Why X Essays
I have been reading about these all over the place.
1) Do the schools that like them tell you that they like them / want them?
2) Which of the t14 schools essentially require you to write a Why X Essay if you want to gain an edge in admissions?
3) Which of the t14 schools is it entirely unnecessary to write a Why X Essay?
Thanks in advance. I simply need to figure out my application process for this cycle along with studying for the October retake.

This is kind of a different question. He's asking more school specific feelings on Why X? essays.

All those questions are answered in the linked thing in the other topic.
Fair point though.

Re: Why X Essays
It says not to write a Why X Essay to the t6 schools.
Would it hurt to write one to CCN? Help?
If my LSAT retake goes as planned I intend to apply to H, CCN, MP.
I was just curious beyone MP if any of those other schools would look favorable upon a Why X Essay.
Also, schools such as Cornell, Georgetown, Vanderbilt and BU, would chances of money increase if you sent a Why X Essay?
My questions are slightly more specific than the thread in the other link. That link is more about what to do in the actually essay versus school specific questions that I am posing.

Re: Why X Essays
It's not required for any T14 and pretty much unnecessary at all of them. If you have something interesting and compelling to say about a school that accepts it, then it might be worth the effort. But, generally they really don't care. I didn't send any and it had no bearing on my cycle (and I avoided YP at the schools where other posters might insist it's necessary). Honestly, just make it apparent through your PS and your application that you're a good fit for the school. You could easily do this without even naming the school.rklafehn wrote:I have been reading about these all over the place.
