Request for interviews?

Post by mpasi » Mon Aug 02, 2010 1:46 pm

If you have a bad GPA, can you request a meeting with the admissions office to explain yourself outside of your addendum, or is that just overkill wrapped in desperation? Do you have to wait for them to ask you to come in? How does it work?

I doubt it. And even if it was allowed, what could you possibly convey in an interview that you can't in an addendum? You probably don't have a legitimate excuse and will just be seen as desperate.

agreed. also, from what i can tell, work experience can lessen the effect of a poor gpa at some schools.

You're both probably right. I'm just overthinking it.

As someone who also has a shitty GPA, I desperately thought of excuses to try and write an addendum. I ended up realizing that my GPA is going to limit me, but there is really nothing I can do about it (because the only reason for it was my own immaturity/laziness), but hope that my LSAT and softs make up for it to some degree to allow me to get into a good school.

Do I wish I could write an addendum that would soften the blow of my GPA? Sure I do. But I know for a fact that I don't have anything addendum-worthy to write, so I won't write one and will instead just hope.
