Who does my recommender address his letter to?

Post by angiej » Fri Jul 23, 2010 11:56 am

I'm applying to 5-10 schools, I've completed the letter of recommendation form for my recommender through LSAC - who does he address his letter to? Does he do one for each school? Help!

I would say,
"To the admissions committee"
or
"To whom it may concern"

something along those lines would work for multiple school I think

Okay, so this wouldn't have a formal letter form with the addressee, etc. Is there any disadvantage to doing this - like then schools realize your applying to multiple schools even though you indicated they are your "top choice?"

They all assume you're applying to multiple schools. Saying that they're your "top choice" only reinforces that.

And is it true that some schools have a form for the LOR writers to write their letter on? I was just going to have my attorney-boss write it on his letter head.

Letterhead is fine. For Stanford, you will have to get an additional form
