Tier 2 Question.

Post by Pastels » Thu Jul 22, 2010 4:38 pm

I am curious. About what % must I be in my class at a tier 2 to transfer up into the T1?

Not sure that there is an absolute cutoff, but it appears that most successful transfer applicants are at least in the top 25% of their first year law school class. The necessary class rank for a successful transfer application will become more demanding for the highest ranked tier one law schools. Some transfers, however, may only "require" that the student be in the top half of his or her class; for example, if transferring for family reasons from a law school ranked in the 50s to a law school ranked in the 40s, then being ranked in the top third may be sufficient. State residency may come into play with a transfer to one's in-state public law school.

Depends on what T2 and what T1, but I thinkWolf is being a little generous. I'd say closer to, if not within, the top 10%.
