ED vs. RD

Post by DorianGray89 » Mon Jul 19, 2010 2:33 pm

I'm a URM, with not a great GPA and not a great LSAT. My question is, I know I'm not going to get a scholarship from my frist choice, which is a T14. Should I apply ED instead of RD so as to better my chances of admission, and take the risk of not being able to negotiate for financial aid?

I do expect to get some need based financial aid, but almost no merit.

Suggestions?

No one's going to be able this question sufficiently unless you post your numbers.

Numbers don't matter here. The question is ED vs RD. Not if I'm going to get in, but if it's better to forego the little chance I have to get a merit scholarship and apply Early Decision.

Numbers do matter for a URM. Just because you think the school is out of reach doesn't mean it really is. We would need numbers plus at least the range of the T14 school you are talking about i.e., HYS CCN etc..

Numbers always matter. If she says otherwise, she is lying.

What kind of URM? T14 is definitely not out of the realm for an URM with those numbers.

Mexican American
Would ED be better? I know where I want to go, the only thing that would prevent me from going there is no need based financial aid

If you are AA and applying to the one of the lower T14 I might not ED. Depends on the school though and what other softs you have going for you.

Straight out of undergrad, with a lot of real meaningful internships (no bitch work).

I'd say you should ED if you REALLY want one particular school. It will help.

Also, if you SN is your name, you should change it. Just some friendly advice.

Right, you would have a very long time to live with that mistake, given that no one destroys your portrait.

I'd say check LSN and see what your odds are. If you are on the cusp then ED.

In general, considering your numbers, I think ED seems like the right call here.
