Need Advice on Potential LOR!!!
I had a question about a potential LOR... I am a transfer student (from community college to 4 yr university) and I have always kept in touch with my old Biology professor from community college. I havnt taken a class with him for 2 years but we have become close friends and I know he will write me the most amazing LOR. I just wanted to know if anyone thinks that this would be an inappropriate LOR since its been awhile since ive taken a class with him and because he teaches bio at a cc, a subject that is completely irrelevant to my major (criminology).? thanks

I had a Chinese and a history teacher write two of my LORs. I'm a Poli Sci major, and only had one class with the history teacher. Didn't seem to hurt me.
In your case, I'd say use him.

Use someone who knows you, doesn't matter if it is a professor at a community college -- it's much better than if it's a professor who has no idea who you are and writes a very dry letter.

what I got from this is that it doesn't even matter what class this professor taught.... i thought I heard that the adcomm wanted a letter from a teacher in your major (aka one of your more important classes)?

As long as close friends isn't a euphemism for romantically involved, go for it; sounds like a good letter.
