Here is my scenario:
I go to UCR. It's not an elite school but I think it is considered a top school. I am entering my fifth year here as a Philosophy/Law and Society major. My LSDAS GPA is a 2.59, but during my first two years in college my LSDAS GPA was a 1.9 and during my last two years it was a 3.22. Also, my major GPA is a 3.08, which is above the UGPA I have of 2.791. I feel I have a "strong" 2.59 (if there is any such thing) because I have both an upward trend and a better GPA in my harder classes. Also I have 2 solid letter of recommendations; one from a professor (who is actually a judge) and another from an employer where I have been an assistant manager. I was vice-president and president of my fraternity, choreographer for a dance team, and I have one legal internship under my belt which lasted a quarter. This is basically the extent of my extra curricular activities. I am Indian (the dot not the feather) so I do not think I am an underrepresented minority. With my 172 LSAT score, the upward trend in my GPA, the fact that my major GPA is higher, and all of my soft credentials, which schools out of the top 30 would I have the best shot at getting into with all these factors considered? Splitter cycles are unpredictable but you have a good shot at them (Northwestern with ED might be a good choice too)

Try UCDavis and UC Hastings. Small chance, but worth the apps.

I concur. Do you have any suggestions on schools to look at that are "splitter" friendly but located in the NY SF or LA are and are inside the top 40 law schools. I am strongly opposed to living in the midwest and potentially being stuck there due to a lack of non-regional employment opportunities available through midwest schools. Thanks

You're really limiting yourself here, as the most splitter-friendly schools tend to be in the midwest. For the cities you listed, I would apply to UC-Davis, UC-Hastings, Fordham, and Cardozo. I would also toss an app to USC because... well, ya never know. Maybe they'll see your LSAT and upward GPA trend and decide you're an applicant that they just have to have. Stranger things have happened. I can't think of any, but I'm sure they have.

LA: None, unless if you consider Loyola and Southwestern viable options.

SF: Hastings, maybe. I'm not too sure about Davis, they don't take many low GPAs as far as I know.

NY: Fordham, maybe. Prlly in at BLS.

None of these cities have any of the schools that are known to be splitter-friendly.

I don't think you're giving the LSAT enough credit here. OP: Aim higher. Look at the lists above (NW [w/ WE], Illinois, WashU, etc) and then maybe pull some from this list as safeties.
