LOR's from lawyers

Post by cyxdev17 » Fri Jul 16, 2010 11:34 am

I know LOR's from famous people don't mean much if they don't know you well. But what's better -- 1) an employer (at an internship) who knows you well and will write how great a person/intern you are in general, or 2) a lawyer in the same company who you don't work directly under but who you've talked to a few times in depth about wanting to go to law school and can comment on the great work you've done at the company from an outside perspective despite not supervising you?

I'm thinking the employer is better...but the lawyer is an alumni at a school I want to go to and I'm thinking that would help. I dont think I should use both since they overlap too much, unless that doesn't matter.

Thanks.

I had a similar situation and I ended up choosing the 'lawyer' type because they were most likely a better writer. My immediate boss was just plain illiterate.
