I began my undergraduate career in community college before transferring over to a UC. I was wondering if using a letter of rec from one of my community college instructors would be a bad idea? would they be looked down upon? I had much better relationships with my instructors in CC as opposed to UC =\.
I kind of messed up by overlooking this whole part of the process and it looks like for the most part i may have to rely on letters of rec from teachers purely based on having a good grade in their class rather than actually developing a solid relationship with them.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated .

Re: Letter of Rec from CC professor?
I'd recommend using the CC letter. They won't look down on it, and it sounds like you had a much more personal relationship with the professor. This is what they care about--someone who can speak about your scholarly abilities and anything else you might bring to a class. Definitely better than a formulaic letter from a UC professor in a large class who doesn't know you.
And don't sweat the letters, they are perhaps the least important part of your application; just avoid getting terrible letters! (and use letters from people who actually know you)

Ad Comms would rather see a letters from a professor that actually knows you, rather than the Nobel Prize winner who doesn't know you from Adam. While prestige can be beneficial, if they can speak to the relationship with you, it is pretty much worthless.
But like the above poster said, avoid anyone who may write you a bad letter!

Awesome, because i think i can get a pretty strong letter from my CC professor who i took for 4 classes as opposed to a few from my UC who i highly doubt will even know my name.
