I got this random email from William & Mary yesterday, and I want to know if this is just junkmail they send to everyone or if it is honestly personalized.
I ask because the email mentions my attending a liberal arts college, and... I most certainly do not.
Dear XXX:
As a law school applicant in the midst of a law school selection, we are sure that you are inundated by catalog after catalog from law schools that you must read so you do not miss a law school that could be of interest to you. I am sure that this process is similar to the process that you went through when you were selected to attend one of the best Liberal Arts Colleges in the country. Our law school has some of the personal characteristics that may have influenced you to select your undergraduate school.
Please review the attached information that gives important highlights of William & Mary Law School. Additional information is on our website http://law.wm.edu. We welcome your application as we begin the important process of selecting our Class of 2014. Please contact me if you have any questions. We will begin accepting applications in September.
Sincerely,
XXX

That's pretty funny. I'm assuming the algorithm they use to personalize mass mailings screwed up.
if (harvard) =/ f(send mailing)

I received the same email. Made me perk up a bit until I realized that it was highly suspect and didn't seem to be targeted or personalized. I have them listed as a target school on LSAC so maybe that's why.

I felt the same way... until I got to the "liberal arts college" part...

I got the same email. However, I do not have them as my target school in LSAC and most definitely don’t go to liberal arts school... I was hoping they would mention a fee waiver, but it was just an attachment with the school info....

I got the same e-mail. I also got another e-mail a few minutes later about a specific program I would be interested in.
Dear ________:
As a law school applicant in the midst of a law school selection, we are sure that you are inundated by catalog after catalog from law schools that you must read so you do not miss a law school that could be of interest to you.
With your background, we thought that you would be interested in our Election Law Program
http://law.wm.edu/academics/intellectua ... /index.php. As a joint venture between the Law School and the National Center for State Courts, this program seeks to provide practical assistance to state court judges who are called upon to resolve difficult election law disputes. As a student, you will be able to participate in an election law resource center that offers research assistance to judges as well as to participate in an annual conference examining election law issues.
We hope that you will seek additional information from our website
http://law.wm.edu. Please review the attached information that gives important highlights of William & Mary Law School. We welcome your application as we begin the important process of selecting our Class of 2014. Please contact me if you have questions. We will begin accepting applications in September.
Sincerely,
_______

W&M is pretty generous with fee waivers, expect them to come out in post-August
