These past few months have been a very painful and trying time, but this decision is
very important. I would really appreciate your help.
About me:
White male, 25 years old, LSAT is 162, GPA 3.7, I've been a government employee for 1.5 years.
I was accepted to the University of Washington, deferred my admission to apply to UT. Now my deferall to UW is up, and I got my rejection to UT. After graduation, my goal is to work for the government.
I really need your advice with the following questions.
1) Should I re-take the LSAT and re-apply to UT or quit my job and move to Seattle?
2) If I decide to re-apply, and having already accepted UW's application, will I be
black-listed from ever applying there again?
3) If I work an additional year or 2 years for the government (non-legal experience),
will that additional experience help me find a legal government job easier after law school?

Have you looked into other Texas schools? UT is great, but you may not have the numbers for it. Retake the LSAT if you feel you can do better.
UW is a good school in its region, but if you have your heart set on UT then try. You wont be blacklisted from applying to UW. Things happen and the admissions people understand that.
Working two more years wont do anything to help you unless you can make some kind of connections with the people that do hiring.
Good luck!

Wait....I thought you weren't allowed to apply anywhere else after you are granted a deferral. If you did this op, you may have just blacklisted yourself from every law school if they find out.
If that's not what you did.....UW is basically a t14 school for the entire NW, which is a lot of damn states. While it's USNWR rank is like 34th, for amount of states it is the top dog for it should rank around Vandy (of course that will never happen, but just for the sake of argument). It is probably the most underrated law school in the country.
Plus, it is in the best city in the country. Liking Texas more than Seattle makes me question your sanity.

Noting the bolded, I think you're already there LOL. But I think I get what you're saying as far as being higher up the totem pole in a government position, am I right?Tristan wrote:White male, 25 years old, LSAT is 162, GPA 3.7, I've been a government employee for 1.5 years.

Call UW, ask if you were blacklisted, because they are most qualified to answer your question. If all systems are go, head to Seattle. Tough luck at Texas, but you should be grateful UW let you in with your LSAT score.
