Applying to LS before LSAT score
I'm planning on taking the October test (deferred from June because I didn't have the time to put in the prep with spring semester's classes) and I don't want to screw up my "apply early" advantage - can I submit everything I need beforehand and have the schools waiting only on my LSAT score for my application to go complete? Thanks!

If you're the type to really freak out and nervous, you can do this but it's probably not worth the money you could save once you know where to target your apps. If money isn't an issue I guess you could go for it.
I'd suggest getting everything together, have the apps 100% ready to go and then send them off the day you get your LSAT score instead. You could wind up saving yourself a lot of money and headaches. You also never know if you might decide to retake or wait a year, etc.

Re: Applying to LS before LSAT score
Unless you are fairly certain that you will score what you are PTing at, I'd wait. Personally, I am scheduled for the October test; however, I think I will be changing my test date to December. That being said, I will probably wait until the next application cycle in order to enable me to apply early in the game. I want to wait until I get my scores back before I even think of sending in applications...I just don't know how my nerves will affect me come the actual test day.
If you are ballin' then go ahead and send in 50 applications throughout the tier 1 and 2 schools...that should pretty much cover all your ground no matter what you score.

Also, you might get some fee waivers after your score is posted. You know, if you are into that whole saving money thing.

Re: Applying to LS before LSAT score
The 'apply early' adage is only worthwhile because it means the schools will assess your application earlier. Without an LSAT score the adcomms won't glance at your application, so it nullifies the advantage. Of course, it's a good idea to complete the applications first, that way when you do receive your score, you can just send in your app asap. But sending them in early is a waste of money if you don't get the score you wanted and offers no advantage.
