Bad past GPA v. Veteran status/3.4 GPA now

When reporting your GPA to calculate their medians schools will have to go with the 2.68
Most of the schools you should be targeting will have a GPA median above 3.4 anyways. In that sense it's not like a 2.68 is somehow going to break the bank whereas a 3.4 won't do much harm. It's the median not the average so both GPAs will have the same effect.
Beyond that, I can't claim to know how schools will look at the situation. You should absolutely write an addendum. You situation is much more compelling than most.

First off, thank you for your service.
Second, Northwestern would probably be a good spot for you. Good LSAT + work experience can often overcome a bad GPA for them, and your work experience looks more impressive than most. Might be worth applying early decision, if you aren't worried about paying sticker.
