Wait A Year or Take My Safety
I have 171/2.9, applied late to schools (beginning of February), and got waitlisted on my targets. I got into some tier 3 and tier 4 schools. I'm wondering if I should wait and apply again in September, or just attend where I got in and hope to transfer.
Also, realistically, what rank of schools can I transfer into from a tier 4 school, even if I do really well?

Do not attend a t3/t4 with a 171. Wait a cycle, apply in September.

Reapply. A 171 is phenomenal.
Never count on transferring. Even though you're intelligent, law school grades won't necessarily reflect that.

Wait, sorry, you didn't even get a T2 with these numbers?

Nope, I applied to some schools in the 40s and 50s ranks, and was waitlisted in a few. Besides that, I applied to other local schools in the lower tiers.

Assuming this isn't a flame:
If you couldn't get into at least the T2 with a 171, you're doing something wrong, even with that GPA.

But it looks like everyone's agreeing that I should wait. Is it because you think applying early will make a difference?

Yes applying early makes a big difference, although as a splitter it probably means more wait lists.caliguy000 wrote:But it looks like everyone's agreeing that I should wait. Is it because you think applying early will make a difference?
Are you fresh out of undergrad? No work experience? How're your softs?

Apply early and more and you could easily get tier one. You need to rewrite your personal statement or at least have several people edit it heavily. Volunteer over the summer and strenghten your softs. Maybe get a new recommender. If you didnt crack T2 with those numbers you need to rethink your entire application.

Thanks for the responses. If you guys think I have a chance at NU, then I should definitely wait. What other schools would be a good target for me?
I do have continuous work experience since college, but it is nothing stellar.

Oh, missed that you applied late.
Yes, absolutely wait. And in the meantime GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER. 2.9 is already a sign that you might not be mature enough for law school, but waiting until Feb to apply pretty much seals it.

UIUC, UMN, WUSTL. All solid T25s that love high LSATs. Money from one of these is also very possible.caliguy000 wrote:Thanks for the responses. If you guys think I have a chance at NU, then I should definitely wait. What other schools would be a good target for me?

I would rather commit suicide than attend anything lower than a top 50. I would debate suicide from 25-49

I would rather commit suicide than be you, be friends with you, know you, run into you. As a matter of fact, the thought that you are a real person makes me consider suicide. I am a bit assuaged by the fact that, according to USNWR, the douchiest of douches such as yourself are all contained at one schooldukelawguy144 wrote:I would rather commit suicide than attend anything lower than a top 50. He must be. I would think that even at the snobbiest of snob schools he would rub everyone the wrong way. I'd put money on him telling everyone at orientation how he plans to transfer to Y as soon as he gets his 1L grades.gwuorbust wrote:don't worry, I feel that douchelawguy144 is just part of JDU coming out of the wordworkCosmo Kramer wrote:I would rather commit suicide than be you, be friends with you, know you, run into you.
