Thoughts on retake-4.0GPA and 160.
I am deciding if I should retake the LSAT in October. My first score was a 160, which was about 6 points below my average pt. Also, if I do not retake, what schools am I looking at?
Thanks
Thanks

Yes you have to retake.Cubyfan21 wrote:I am deciding if I should retake the LSAT in October. My first score was a 160, which was about 6 points below my average pt. Also, if I do not retake, what schools am I looking at?

Also study harder, 166 ain't going to cut unless you have a great GPA, and if you have a great GPA don't waste it on a 166.

RETAKE.
5 more points brings T14 into play, 10 more brings Top 6 into play. 12 more points and, well, enjoy Cambridge.
DF: He has a 4.0

LOL I can't read. Anyone who gets two or more wrong on RC should be ashamed of yourselves.romothesavior wrote:RETAKE.

I (and everyone else on TLS) will kill you if you waste that 4.0 GPA.

You think a 4.0 and 172 would get you in? LSP gives a Consider and LSN seems inconclusive...romothesavior wrote:12 more points and, well, enjoy Cambridge.

Yea 172 is about 50/50. 173 is a good shot. 175 is just about a sure thing.

Damn, I was hoping you'd have some great reason why a 4.0 and 172 would be a lock. Oh well, seems to be at least a Waitlist.

Yeah, and considering Harvard seems to take previous into account at least somewhat, I may have been a little overzealous with my 172 prediction. That 160 won't look good for them.Desert Fox wrote:http://harvard.lawschoolnumbers.com/app ... ,8&type=jdD-ROCCA wrote:You think a 4.0 and 172 would get you in? In any case, retake is still TCR.

Very, very unlikely with that LSAT.Gamecubesupreme wrote:Berkeley.Cubyfan21 wrote:What schools am I looking at with the high GPA and lower lsat?
OP, you should not be looking at any schools with that GPA/LSAT combo. There are people who would give their left leg to have a 4.0, so do not squander it by taking the easy road and not retaking. The schools you would get into with a 160 LSAT are, in all likelihood, not worth attending. Maybe do your PS, DS, get your LORs lined up, but your main focus should be on retaking the LSAT. You could maybe even fill out some apps for places you are interested in, but do not apply until you have a higher score. If you retake in September, that will give you plenty of time to apply early.

What schools can I get into with 4.0 GPA and 160 LSAT?

Not really a guarantee at most places in the T1. Even Dozo could WL-> reject you with that LSAT.Cubyfan21 wrote:What schools can I get into with 4.0 GPA and 160 LSAT?

Oh, in that case, you have a shot, but don't waste that GPA on GMU.Cubyfan21 wrote:George Mason, sorry.

Re: Thoughts on retake-4.0GPA and 160.
This thread has helped me make up my mind once and for all to retake (I already bought the bibles and signed up for the October LSAT because I was 98% sure I was going to retake) My practice scores were similar to yours, and I had finally hit the 170s+ the week before the test.
Also, OP, I have similar #'s (slightly higher LSAT by 1 pt, and slightly lower GPA by .1), and will be retaking for a third time in Oct. Though, since it will be a third time, I am not sure if I have a chance a T14 still, but maybe Berkeley, if I can push 5-7 more points on the LSAT.
I think you should definitely retake. My dream school is Berkeley or Notre Dame, so I want to be competitive for both of them. Berkeley and Notre Dame have certain programs that I really like, and my twin went to Berkeley and loved it. I've been to Berkeley a number of times as well to visit her.
