i didn't get a call, but got e-mails from a student. it makes you wonder how the student feels....having to go out of their way to help their law school get applicants. i'm sure most people would gladly support their school, but for ur school to really need ur help would definitely make me second guess my decision.

how much do u think they're getting paid? couldn't they make more tutoring 1L's if they needed the $?

i was never a proponent for the work study. i think if smart kids put their mind to work and had confidence, they can make far more than what a work study position pays. it's like being one of those walmart employees who spends all their money at walmart.

It could also be a GA type deal where you get a grant/tuition waiver instead of straight pay. You get more, it doesn't count as income and you don't pay taxes on it.

I think a lot of the point of work study (at least the positions at my UG) is that it doesn't interfere with school as much. Of course I could make a lot more money than I do at my on-campus office job, but I also couldn't study for exams/work on papers while at work.

Illinois fee waiver? This year UIUC waived the application fee for everyone that applies. Seems redundant to be sending out fee waivers.

Indeed it does, and I'm pretty sure I got one before too.

i got one too. "invited to apply." technically, everyone is invited to apply. i think it is a smart move rankings wise to waive all the fee waivers. as was mentioned on GWU, they only get about $840,000 from fee waivers. if illinois is similar, it is definitely worth the rankings boost based on a lower acceptance rate (more unqualified people applying) to throw away $840,000 when we're talking about the amount of money behind these schools yearly budgets.

Loyola Chicago emailed me today about Law School info days on my UG campus.
"Please note, we do not charge an application fee for applicants applying as entering students. The fee is automatically waived."

Really. I e-mailed them for a fee waiver (oops) and got a very nice real person reply that they don't charge a fee.

Yeah, there are several schools that are waiving the fee for everyone. Illinois and W&L come to mind.

Fee waiver from Samford University Cumberland School of Law today. I've at least HEARD of all the other schools I got emails from, but this one I had no clue.

oh, Michigan State contacted me again as did Florida Coastal. FC actually had me with my LSAT paranoia considering their spring start. It was a depressing day till Emory came to the rescue.

Seriously, Michigan State has contacted me 15-20 times. It's ridiculous. They were my first fee waiver (before I had CRS) so I was kind of excited that someone wanted me. Now, unless they give me a spot on the basketball team, no way I'm applying.
