Low Graduate Academic Performance

Post by Courtney1207 » Wed Jun 16, 2010 9:26 am

I attended Undergrad and received a 3.5 GPA (mostly A's). However, I attended Grad School and I was miserable. It was something that I didn't really want to do but it was the "safe" choice. But I did horrible I received a 3.0 GPA my first semester and a 2.5 GPA my second semester. I wasn't asked to leave, but I decided to leave because I am more passionate about law. I know I will do better in law school, however, will this REALLY hurt my chances of going to law school? Also, after I left grad school, i decided to attend community college to get an associates in business so I could dual major at law school. I got a 4.0 GPA in Community college. Soooo... What do you think? should I write an addendum? What should I say?

No, it shouldn't hurt. UGPA and LSAT are the only numbers adcomms care about. Don't write an addendum, and don't address it.

Edited for correctness.

Dual major in law school? what are you talking about?

Write an addendum but make sure you know what you a re talking about first.

I meant a dual degree. For example: a JD/MBA.

What were you studying in graduate school? If it was business why would you want to do a JD/MBA? In light of you wanting to do a JD/MBA, you probably should write an addendum for your low graduate GPA.

I was studying English. Getting a dual degree is just a thought. But I know that I want to go into corporate law so i figured that with an English background it would be best if I get an associate's degree in business. I wanted to have at least some background in business.
