What is considered early?

Post by Knock » Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:13 pm

Everyone says apply early, what time period exactly is considered early?

Can someone fill in the dates for the following time periods:
Ideal -
Okay, could have been earlier but wont hurt too much -
Late, will hurt a bit -

To me early is once they start taking applications. Being one of the first people to be seen will be an advantage. Applying December or later I would imagine to be a disadvantage. In between would probably be a push. That is just my personal speculation though..I do not have data to back it up.

Unforatuntely, my school doesn't start until late September (last week or two). I've already talked to my 2 professors for LOR. Gonna send them a little packet in the next couple of weeks, but I'm guessing the earliest I can get my LOR's in will be early October. Assuming that these are the last things keeping me from being complete, will I be nice and early with early-middle October submissions?

I'd be less lenient. I'd say:

Ideal- By the end of October
Okay, could have been earlier but wont hurt too much - By the end of November
Late, will hurt a bit - After Christmas break

Don't understimate how long it takes LORs to come complete but if all is complete in mid-October it wouldn't be that awful. I doubt you would get the boost you would get as if you were one of the first ones. On the other hand you certainly won't be penalized.
