advice w/ my situation
so i need advice b/c idk who else to ask (family barely speaks english ...no clue about law school)
I have pretty crappy numbers so right now I am waitlisted at UVA, Univ. of Pennsylvania, Duke, and Columbia (just made it on the second reserve). I was accepted off the waitlist at GW - and that deposit is in a few days.
I'm not taking a year off and I don't know how to proceed - I can't really be wasting money especially w/ a 1000 second deposit. Would GW know of what I'm doing? If I send in the first deposit would the other waitlists be done for? Ahh...I hate not knowing and it's getting so late. I would obviously love Columbia but my LOCIs info is running low. So if i send in my full 1500 to GW what happens if I do get in another school?
Also, is U Penn law better than GW? Would I choose that over or UVA over GW or do rankings not matter?

LOL at having "crappy numbers" but having a chance at these kinds of schools. It's all relative I guess.

a) Kind of a d-bag thing to say you have crappy numbers because those top schools waitlisted you. Honestly.
b) If GW is your only option, then either put down the deposit or stay on the other waitlists but prepare to take another year off. You can't depend on getting off a waitlist.
c) No, putting down a deposit at GW would not affect your other waitlists. You would lose the deposit, however, if you got off another waitlist and went to that school.
d) Rankings matter more in law than in just about any other profession. So yes, U Penn is better.

Edit:
wow seems ppl are annoyed at the numbers comment - I said that to offer an insight that I might not have great chances at wailists (if you want to you can PM me for the numbers and you'll agree w/ me)
I'm surprised at the UPenn/rankings comment, it does help ... b/c I saw some activity on their waitlist.

Penn/UVA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GW
You can deposit at as many schools as you like. America!! What a country!
But if you don't complete your deposit, you lose your seat. They could care less if your waiting to get into a better school, they just want your money and to fill up and finalize their class.

Top 14 schools are above and beyond all the rest.
Pick GW as long as you have no problem working in DC, or at least the northeast.
