Splitter 3.0/177, ED GULC or W&M???
Basically as the title says, I'm a splitter. My GPA is 3.0 and my LSAT is 177.
I want to work in the DC area, and I'm trying to decide whether to apply to GULC or William and Mary ED (I'm applying this fall).
I feel like I may have a better chance at getting into W&M with my numbers, but GULC's DC location is appealing. Then again, I don't want to apply ED to GULC, not get in, and then not get in RD to W&M and wonder what would have happened if I did ED for W&M.
By the way, I'm not thinking about GW ED because of their "Presidential scholars" program. For those who don't know, those who get into GW through ED get a full tuition scholarship for all three years of law school. Basically, obscenely competitive. Not going to even try to touch it!
Anyways.... thoughts?

I had similar stats to yours. Don't ED to GULC unless it's you're first choice above all other T14 schools. Definitely don't ED W&M.
I got into W&M (in-state) with scholarship, and into GULC regular decision.

I wouldn't ED to W&M, you are selling yourself short. Consider Northwestern ED or UVA. Search similar threads for better sense of where your numbers will land you ED or not.

GULC. Go big or go home.
Though EDing to UVA is probably your best bet.

Omg thank you so much. I tend to be supremely hard on myself (extreme circumstances led to me getting the 3.0 and I pretty much constantly punish myself for it mentally).
This really gave me some great perspective. I would have never even thought of UVA simply because I believe they would never even consider me. Thank you and any other replies are appreciated!

Yes, yes, yes -- UVa. Apply to GULC, but you can do better. Think UVa or, perhaps, Northwestern -- it could get you to DC and they won't hate the 3.0.
Def. not W&M. That would be a total waste of that LSAT. If ED at UVa or Northwestern doesn't work, try ED at GULC (maybe), and if that doesn't work, apply to W&M, W&L, GW, etc. to see what kind of money you could get.

Quick search on LSN for UVA EDers who had stats similar to yours. ^^^ You should get in if you apply ED early in the cycle, I feel. Just be sure that you're willing to pay sticker to attend...

+1 I'm the reject on that list, but I didn't ED UVA till much later in the cycle. Do it immediately. Or ED GULC, whichever you like better.thatsnotmyname wrote:http://uva.lawschoolnumbers.com/applica ... =3&type=jd

Looks like you had a rough cycle. Are you reapplying next cycle?Encyclopedia Brown wrote:+1 I'm the reject on that list, but I didn't ED UVA till much later in the cycle. Do it immediately. Looks like it, unless I skate in off the WL at one of a few schools I love. For now I'm just functioning as the TLS splitter what-not-to-do PSA.thatsnotmyname wrote:Looks like you had a rough cycle. Are you reapplying next cycle?

Why not ED GW? If you get accepted, its binding but a full ride.
If you don't get it, don't they put you in the regular admission pile?

haha that's awfully nice of you. I'm sure your cycle will go better next year and you'll get into a great school.Encyclopedia Brown wrote:Looks like it, unless I skate in off the WL at one of a few schools I love. I don't think she would get in GW ED. She would most likely be deferred to the regular admission pile and either be admitted or WLed. Probably admitted but with little to no money. This is just my guess from looking at admissions decisions on LSN.Why not ED GW? If you get accepted, its binding but a full ride.

So GW ED is not a good decision for her because in the most likely scenario she'll end up being admitted to GW with little money. If she's going to have to pay that much for GW, she may as well pull the trigger on UVA ED. If she is willing to pay sticker, she should ED UVA.

I was just about to basically say that. As GW ED is crazy competitive because of the full ride, I feel like I would already be put into the RD pile anyway and would rather use my ED chance on another school.
Thanks so much for the perspectives! Any more are appreciated of course.
