Does this justify an addendum?
Hey guys. Up to this point in my collegiate career I have had all A's with a LSDAC of 3.87. Now after this semester I received 2 B's and 2 B+'s and 3 A's while taking 22 credits.
The week of finals this semester, one of my best friends suddenly passed away and my grandmother became badly injured and while these situations are sad they did have a very negative effect upon my life, as one could obviously understand and I was wondering if that would count as a justifiable gpa addendum when I apply to law school ?
Thanks

I'd think not--figure out what it's going to do to your LSDAS GPA before you call attention to it. It might be better handled with an aside in your PS than making a mountain out of a molehill w/an addendum. Those are typically used to explain lapses in enrollment, disciplinary action, large grade fluctuations, etc.

Don't write one, and definitely do not do this even worse idea.

Really? I'm curious as to why this is a worse idea, provided that it fits with the theme or topic of the statement.D. H2Oman wrote:Don't write one, and definitely do not do this even worse idea.

Still, the best plan here is probably to say nothing. It shouldn't alter your reported GPA much.

I'm sorry for your loss.
As to your question, I wouldn't mention it. You still have a very good gpa.

If you're going to try to explain away a semester of grades an addendum is definitely the way to do it. Don't ruin your PS by trying to jam some extraneous information in there. OP's problem is that this addendum will not help him one bit, and it would probably look pretty damn whiny.
