Hey,
I recently graduated from a top European university and would like to attend law school in the US. During my undergrad, I spent a year studying in the United States. I know that LSDAS does not convert foreign grades, but I was wondering how, if at all, LSDAS would take account of the GPA I obtained while studying in the US?
Thanks a lot for your help!

I don't think you're gonna have a calculated LSDAS UGPA--your year in the US may work only as a soft. And that sucks, because law schools care so much about pulling their stats up.

Thanks for your help! I just just started asking myself the question when I read another topic about someone getting their community college grades earned in high school taken into account by LSDAS rather than the GPA they got doing their actual undergrad abroad.

This depends on several factors and there is no "one size fits all" answer to this kind of question.
At first glance, your "study abroad" GPA might be the only one they consider, because these are the only US grades you have attained. They may not count, however. Your best bet is to contact LSAC and explain the situation (Did you study abroad via your home institution? Does the coursework you did in the US show up in any form on your home institution transcript, etc). You will get a clear response from them provided you give details like these.

Thanks a lot for your help. I'll send them an email to explain the situation. I just hope they do somehow take it into account because my "study abroad" GPA (3.92 taking both upper-level undergrad classes and grad classes) certainly wouldn't hurt my application.shantiom wrote:This depends on several factors and there is no "one size fits all" answer to this kind of question.
