Does LSAC Make Multiple Copies of the LOR?
If my professor is writing 3 different versions of the same LOR (two of them school-specific, say, one for Berkeley, one for NYU, and the last for every other school), does my professor need to just send one copy of each version?
Will LSAC make copies of the letter that will be used for every other school? I'm applying to about 8 law schools, and I was wondering if my professor had to make 8 copies of the 3rd version, and I too have to print out 8 copies of that LOR form (with my signature) on it.
I'm re-reading the LSAC website right now, and can't find a definitive answer.
Does anyone have experience with LSAC's LOR system?
Thank you so much.

I havent used the LSAC system myself but I was under the impression LSAC uploads it and you just select which schools get whichever LOR.

This question really threw me off for a second until I realized what you meant. LORs are digitally loaded into the LSAC database.

You send in one of each version. You assign a specific version to a school and they send a copy to that school. They take care of all the copying and scanning.MagnumLifeStyle wrote:If my professor is writing 3 different versions of the same LOR (two of them school-specific, say, one for Berkeley, one for NYU, and the last for every other school), does my professor need to just send one copy of each version?

If you have 8 different LOR's that are school-specific, you will need to assign 8 LOR's on LSAC and print 8 different forms.
LSAC will upload them all to your account, and then you decide which school gets which LOR. So make sure you title each one with the specific school name.
Honestly, it's a lot of work for basically no real return.

I still don't understand the question. You want to know if your LOR writer actually has to make 8 physical copies of the same letter?

Kilpatrick, yeah that was what I was wondering.
Thanks everyone for clariying how they do it.
Is making a LOR school-specific really unnecessary?

A school-specific LOR isn't really worth the bother. LOR's make up such a tiny part of your overall application. Focus more on a school-specific PS.

I think it would only help if the recommender was an alumnus of that school. Otherwise, save it for your PS, diversity, or Why X.MagnumLifeStyle wrote:Kilpatrick, yeah that was what I was wondering.

It probally helps who they are from too. You could have 4 from highschool teachers and nonlegal employers, but that is weak at best. If you can get a former legal employer, prelaw profs, current lawyer/judge, those are the big dogs.
