Job: Important for Admission?

Post by rmansoor » Thu May 06, 2010 1:35 am

Hey all!

I have a question: Is having a job a good asset on your resume/ EC's?

I don't currently have one and the last one I had was as a soccer ref. I'm aiming for T14 and have 3 more golden years of UG. I have other EC's but I don't know if jobs are something 'better'?

Thanks!

If you can work 30-40 hrs a week and maintain as high of GPA as possible, then yes get a job. If a job is going to hinder your ability to get a great GPA then don't. Done and Done.

Here's what matters for admissions generally:

LSAT>>>>>>>>>>GPA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Softs (extracurricular activities, work experience, personal statement, letters of recommendation, etc)

Do things you're passionate about - get good grades - study hard for the LSAT.

Oh, and when it comes time, apply early.
