URM PR female -- Should I apply for THE THIRD TIME???
So I'm currently going through my second law school application cycle. DISCLAIMER: I applied SUPER late both times like a retard, and in doing so I think I basically shot my chances of getting in/getting aid in the head.
Stats:
URM (PR female)
Columbia UG
3.52 GPA
LSAT: 161 and 165
Last cycle I got in nowhere, got W/Led at Duke, Columbia, Stanford and BU.
This cycle I applied to 13 schools. In: BC (with no $). Out: Penn and UCLA. W/Led: NYU/Columbia/Stanford/USC/Emory/Duke/BU/Cornell/Georgetown. Pending: Fordham.
As I see it, my options are:
1) retake the LSAT in June. Try to boost my score and get off some/one of these waitlists.
2) go to BC with no $. Tough, because I could really use at least a handful of change to get through the next 3 years.
3) apply for THE THIRD TIME in the fall. Early. Like, real early.
Comments/questions/suggestions?

Retake and reapply. I think you can do it!

1) Apply early. That is to say... sometime after Halloween but before Thanksgiving.
2) And have someone who's good at it look over the rest of your app (namely PS and resume). Sometimes there might be something in there that just doesn't jive with adcomms, while you could be unaware of it.
No reason you shouldn't hit t14 somewhere (because there are few PRicans with a 165 out there at all).

You answered your own question. I don't think a retake is as necessary as much as applying earlier. That said, if you are scoring consistently higher in practice tests, wouldn't hurt. Good luck! Also, I concur with the other poster who recommended somebody look at your supplementals.

Thanks, all of you. I've seen other URM (PR) applicants on LSN with my numbers who've gotten into T14 with $$, so maybe the adcomms either hated my PS or were punishing me for applying late...and didn't really mind the 165?

damn how late did you apply? I got into BC with $ and I have way worse numbers. maybe applying early would make a huge difference

Late January both times. Took the December LSAT two years in a row, rethought applying after both tests and then ended up submitting apps anyway. Kind of like Groundhog Day.
