LSN graphs

Post by februaryftw » Fri Apr 16, 2010 3:08 pm

Has there been any improvement of LSN graphs over the years? Any plans to improve or rivals out there I don't know about? I'm looking at a graph now and I have a 3.7 up in the 3.8 area, and I have cluttered areas where I can't distinguish between students because I can't zoom. I also can't sort the info that is graphed (e.g. leave off U Virginia's paint the whole graph yellow plan and just show acceptances and rejections). The graphs are pretty helpful but they really could be so much better with a few tweaks.

I guess this could be a full fledged rant but a) I don't have the time b) I'm thankful for LSN existing.

Yes! I think being able to graph one's specific search results would be ideal (especially if each result had a check box to include or exclude so you could then take out the fake accounts or covert URMs as well).

If I wasn't epically lazy, I'd web scrape their data and make it presentable.

Maybe after I do the patent bar.

It wouldn't be too difficult for them to do. I should know, I reprogrammed the site (you should have seen how dreadful it was a few years ago). However, we had a disagreement so I never finished the work I intended to do. Everything is in place, ready to be updated though (this is why there is a "reload" button. it is useless, but it was the first step in talking with the graphing code so that the graphs can be changed dynamically).

There is a rival you don't know about: http://www.admissionsdean.com/. Don't know how good it is, because it came around after my cycle, but there you go.

Well I do know about that site but the numbers are terrible and graphs really aren't improved. But thanks :)
