Anyone else here not really fazed by the new rankings?
I haven't changed my mind about my choice of school. USNRW Ranking is entertaining, but not a major factor.

Correct. I am unphased. Of course, I chose my law school years ago, so not much I can do...

If anything, it better reflects the general opinions most people hold here.DoubleChecks wrote:T14 didnt seem to really shift too much at least

It made my decision a little harder; I wasn't expecting GW to rise so much

you should have - it's abrupt drop made it a prime candidate for some clawback, esp. since the administration felt compelled to reassure people in the wake of last year's rankings.ArtVandelay wrote:It made my decision a little harder; I wasn't expecting GW to rise so much

Re: Anyone else here not really phased by the new rankings?
hypothetical situation: now let pretend a firm actively recruited students from law school B, however, the school dropped 15 slots in the ranking. Does anyone really think that firm is no longer going to be hiring those kids? seriously?
i do give credit for US news successfully marketing their ranking, next year I would like to see some ranking that describe the attractiveness of the female student body, also how about a ranking that gives me some odds on how likely it would be for me to find an aspiring female attorney to mate with

If my options pulled a Hawaii, I might take a second look, but with minimal changes, there is not much to consider.

In previous years, people have been so shocked that they partially phased out of this universe.mcm17 wrote:It's "fazed," people. My God, you're all going to be lawyers?

I've only been admitted to one school, so the changes haven't fazed me or changed my decision, haha. Luckily, the school is in my target market, and I have received a scholarship.
EDIT: I somehow wrote phased when I made my original post

Re: Anyone else here not really phased by the new rankings?
Honestly, I can't imagine anyone with half a brain being too caught up with fluctuations in rankings. I don't believe employers change their opinion of a school based on whether they went up or down in the rankings. In fact, I really don't think employers' opinions of schools ever change. The rankings have basically been set for life - very few schools will gain or lose a significant amount of prestige in the next 10, 15, 20 years. If employers' opinions about schools, or more accurately, graduates of certain schools, actually DO actually change, I highly doubt it is because of some arbitrary jump or drop.

I was headed to Chicago, but only if they jumped at least 2 spots. Now it's time for Plan B: sell my shit and move to Kenya.

Yup, I just withdrew from Chicago. Only a one spot jump? TTT, indeed. I heard they are a bunch of eggheads.AngryAvocado wrote:I was headed to Chicago, but only if they jumped at least 2 spots. Now it's time for Plan B: sell my shit and move to Kenya.
(Note Chicago admissions: I still plan on attending.. please don't rescind my acceptance. I was only joking.)

Re: Anyone else here not really fazed by the new rankings?
I'm not fazed (or phased, for that matter), but then my schools of interest didn't change much.
If I were on the fence about GW, I'd feel a hell of a lot better pulling the trigger.
If I were debating b/t UF and FSU (one spot apart last) year, these rankings might have actually made the difference.
Honestly, I'd be concerned if I were looking at Fordham, especially w/o much $$$.
IU-B will lose people who were thinking of taking it over a less-generous UIUC/ND offer.
GULC administrators can finally unclench their assholes and sit comfortably for the first time in weeks... until next year.
Also, I now agree *exactly* with the T14 rankings.

It's good to discuss, to a point, but it won't affect my choices a single bit.

Re: Anyone else here not really fazed by the new rankings?
Changes in the rankings only faze people who get an ego boost when they tell others where they're going to law school.
Each school still has the exact same reputation as it did last year as far as employers are concerned. Employers aren't all of a sudden going to say "WOW. We will definitely start hiring more ASU grads." or "I used to think Missouri was a decent schools but it is obviously a crap law school now."

I was kind of hoping that UT/UCLA would at least tie GULC this year, but next year it's even less likely to happen now that GULC has basically changed its PT programflcath wrote:GULC administrators can finally unclench their assholes and sit comfortably for the first time in weeks... until next year.

Anyone who has a minimal grasp of reality will not be fazed by new rankings.
Of course, plenty of people here are nonetheless fazed.
