Need to make decision fast
What should I do?
1) Option 1 - medical school. ND program (naturopath) in Oregon. Basically new advanced methods to treat people without corporate greed and with natural substances. 200K in debt. Will probably make 100-200K after graduation
2) Tier 3 Law School. Regional. Will probably make top 15%-17% of the class. 200K in debt. Median salary there is 90K, so I would assume that in a worst way scenario I will make 90K.
3) Chiropractor degree with specialization in aromatherapy. Selfexplanatory.
4) Business degree. Didnt apply yet, but can get into solid state school (Thinl calstate system).
5) Ultimate - Joint degree JD/ND (Or oher holistic medicine). Probably limitless potential

The question is what is more interesting/profitable: to be a lawyer or Doctor of holistic medicine.champ33 wrote:These are all pretty similar options.

Justdude, you have 7000+ TLS posts, and you may not even go to law school...
Do you also post on holistic medicine blogs?
I think you may want to just walk away from the computer, go talk to people in person, socialize in real life...

Why not just do whatever you would be happiest doing? I mean, they will all result (hopefully) in enough income to cover the cost of whatever the school bills are... so why not shoot for what would make YOU happiest. No one knows that but you, though.JustDude wrote:

Re: Need to make decision fast
My doctor told me if he could do everything over he would not go to Med school. He complained that his friends who did business made it way quicker than he did and with way less debt. On the other side I've talked to a couple, one was a lawyer one was a doctor, and they said take the medical route. Being a doctor is harder to get through (way more school), but making it as a lawyer is way more difficult. However if you make it as a lawyer you can make a lot more money by opening your own practice than doctors--not to mention with the new healthcare bill that may change things with being a doctor too.
People who make it big in business are usually the ones who start their own businesses, not so much the ones who get an MBA, althought it is possible.
WHoever you ask if going to tell you something so really have to see the pros and cons of each and decide which one seems like you'd rather do.

Don't pursue a law degree, especially at a T3, unless you really want to be a lawyer. Looking at your options, I think a medical career would be more lucrative and perhaps more enjoyable for you. Again, that's just my initial hunch, I don't know you well enough to make a concrete conclusion.

I guess I should apologize for having an actual social life and not posting on an online law school forum enough. PS. from someone who has been in the workforce: A person who has to ask others whether he should be a; T3 lawyer, Holistic medicine doctor (lolol), chiropractor, or get an MBA probably isn't going to do so hot in his/her profession. YOU HAVE NO DIRECTION!JustDude wrote:Thanks 60 posts posterflawyer wrote:Justdude, you have 7000+ TLS posts, and you may not even go to law school...

I don't know how you conclude that a person without a clear career goal is destined to failure. Most people change their undergrad majors at least once but they don't necessarily all end up working at the golden arches afterwards.flawyer wrote:I guess I should apologize for having an actual social life and not posting on an online law school forum enough. Option 1. You will have more freedom and autonomy in your work. And should you decide to practice in an area concentrated with affluent people your income potential will be the best out of all with with the least amount of stress. That industry is going to rise faster as well. Debt is a concern, but no more than a T3 school and future outlook is much better with option 1.

It's a fucking troll post. Is this who they're letting into T6 lawl schools these days? Is there a sixth tier of law schools I don't know about?flawyer wrote:I guess I should apologize for having an actual social life and not posting on an online law school forum enough. Re: Need to make decision fast
I did not conclude that. However, his question was "What is more profitable, holistic medicine or a JD". This question clearly cannot be answered, (doctors and lawyers have a large salary variance). My conclusion was: Just dude is clearly lacking direction and needs to do some work force research instead of building his 7000+ TLS posts that he is so proud of.JOThompson wrote:I don't know how you conclude that a person without a clear career goal is destined to failure. Fair enough. I will agree that flaunting post count is a weak tactic. I don't think this was a serious post, FWIW.

I have one question for all of you, (it may be a stupid one). Why would someone make a fake post like this?

Chiropractor degree is the credited response. Lots of people think that Chiropractors are doctors. The specialization in aromatherapy seems an interesting twist.
It is a path to fortune. . . . so long as you are content with the idea of providing only placebo treatments for those with real medical needs.
