Application In Review by Admissions Committee

Post by Perjury » Wed Apr 07, 2010 4:43 pm

How long does an Admisisons Committee usually take to render a decision on an application?

If they take a long time is it a good thing and vice versa.

2 weeks to 6 months. Or any time in between.

If they take a really long time, you're probably going to get wait listed. Whether that's a good thing depends on your expectations.

In my experience, I'm not sure if there is a set amount of time it takes for adcomm's to review a file but I would agree that 2 weeks to 6 months probably is a good guess. Also, the amount of time it took for the adcomm's to review my application wasn't indicative of if I was in or not. For instance, one school my file was 'in review' for five months and I was accepted while another application was in review for 3 months and I was denied.

This is all based on my experiences in my cycle. I'm sure that depending on what schools you apply to the process may be different.
