can you ask a school to reconsider and give you scholarship

(question in topic). Esp. if I say I'm withdrawing because I cannot afford the tuition? I'm probably being naive in thinking it's possible but just want to make sure. Even a few thousands would make all the difference.

If you are going to withdraw if they say no, then what is the harm in asking?

it's called bargaining. do you have a scholly somewhere else? even at a lower school? that helps. either way write the adcom a letter explaining how you really want to go there for reasons x,y,z but can't afford it. it can work.

Just call the school's financial aid office and ask what the formal procedures are for appealing your financial aid package.
