Deferred Admission from WL with Advanced Standing?
Random hypothetical - I'm not sure if this ever happens, but... I'm riding several waitlists, all schools I would kill to go to, but I'm also committed to starting law school Fall 2010. I've been planning on going for years and it just needs to happen already. I know that at some schools, if they run out of space but they like you, they will occasionally offer deferred 1L admission to start the following year. This isn't an option for me, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever negotiated this deferred 1L admission to deferred admission with advanced 2L standing? ie, I'm wondering if it would be possible to do my 1L year at a school I've already been accepted to, and then transfer to a WL school for 2L without going through the traditional post-1L transfer application process? I know that this is a big longshot and not at all standard operating procedure, but is this something that's ever been done? Would the admissions offices entertain the idea or laugh in my face?
