Re: Reality TV, a negative soft?
my guess is that people in the law school world, generally have a negative opinion of reality tv, even though many of them probably watch it.

First of all I think it depends what show. If you were doing body shots off of The Situation's Situation...leave it out
But if you somehow spun it how it opened your eyes to all the issues involved in appearance releases, rights to future use and appearances, and every legal element involved in TV...especially if that interested you than I think it could help

Not worth it. The producers of those shows want to make you look like an assclown. It's their job to make you look your worst.xyzzzzzzzz wrote:I'm thinking if it is a relatively obscure show,(what not to wear, the amazing race) it is prob no big deal. But if it is like america's next top model, or survivor, (i think there is a character on there now who wants to go to ls) it could make the applicant look like a big douche. is it simply not worth the possibly bad exposure?

Anybody remember Mara McDermott from Sorority Life? She's an associate at Akin, Gump, and Strauss now.

A few reality star lawyers come to mind
The HLS grads victor jih - http://www.omm.com/victorjih/ - a partner at O'melveny and his sister Tamara jih - http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/ ... f-0041.jpg - an associate at Quinn Emmanuel, who were also the winners of the amazing race.

I am pretty sure that Vinny from Jersey Shore spoke quite a few times about going to law school.
Is that you OP?

It depends on the show and how you behaved on said show. Was it Top Chef or American Idol? CITE!!! Was it Real World Vegas or the Anna Nicole Show.... don't cite. Other shows fall in between. It would be nice if you could watch it before you cited it.
I think it would actually be an amazingly positive soft that you got on agood socially acceptable reality show. Makes you very unique. Very few people actually get on a reality show.
However, as an above poster said, the producers do like to make reality show contestants look like ass clowns. Many reality show contestants have complained about this after the fact. So expect that your worst side could come through (especially if you haven't seen the final product).

LOL- Season 2, Vinny talks about applying to law schools, and mentions using TLS.com as a reference material.
