Harvard? MAYBE Obama. Actually no, always the second. Question gets a 0/10kblueboi wrote:a 160 lsat and 3.7 gpa with a recommendation from president obama?

Easy. 2nd one. A name-drop rec isn't necessarily a good rec. Also, a rec doesn't make up for lack of GPA or LSAT points.kblueboi wrote:a 160 lsat and 3.7 gpa with a recommendation from president obama?

Not even close. See previous answers.
I'll take a 172 3.7 with normals recs over a 160 3.7 with a recommendation from Jesus Christ (even for Notre Dame).

Better question.
A 160 LSAT and 3.7 GPA with a recommendation letter from Barack Obama and a Senate internship
OR
A 164 LSAT and 3.48 GPA with an upward grade trend and a recommendation letter from a DLA partner

First. No doubt. Auto Admit as soon as they see the POTUS seal.

You can get plenty of the second type of candidates. People like us are a dime a dozen.
Assuming Obama isn't writing recommendations for everyone on his staff, a personal recommendation for him is the equivalent of many softs people consider special and a law school should certainly pick this applicant up immediately.

Just how well does Obama know you? LORs from famous, influential people usually aren't worth much if the relationship is nearly nonexistent.

Doesn't matter. Plus Obama knows the law game, he taught at one point in time, he'll promote you like health care. Although I'm not an Obama fan, I'd rather have the first. How many pieces of paper do you think think Adcomms have on their desk with POTUS seals on them? There maybe be three total in the country in a year, and they're all on Y/H desks.

Re: what would your rather have?
I actually find it hard to believe a sitting president would ever write a letter of recommendation for a student.

I find it hard to believe a non-citizen's word would carry much weight.

Would you rather dunk on Obama, or shoot cheney during a hunting "accident" (you cannot kill dick, just wound him)?

I wonder if that recommendation would do more harm than good if you applied to Cardozo?traehekat wrote:Not even close. See previous answers.
