If firms are ugly discriminatory, should law schools be too? (pictures w/ apps; mandatory interviews?) A big factor in rankings is reputation. What's better for reputation than hotties?

Re: Attractiveness and Legal Employment
us news will track avg gpa, avg LSAT, and avg hotness (1-10).
avg hotness will be determined by submitting the applicants photos to hot-or-not and tallied appropriately. 25th - 75th percentiles must be reported

Re: Attractiveness and Legal Employment
for another superficial tidbit in the law world...
men who have family and kids = bonus within the law firm. congrats etc...viewed favorably.
single men = kind of strange, better to have family and kids
women who have family and kids = shunned, obviously will put family first and lose ambition, less able to perform, etc.
single woman = tough, career minded. can be treated the same as a man because she won't be pulled in many directions.
this is from some sociological study i believe, my gf told me earlier today

You mean you guys didn't send in a glossy 8x10 in lieu of an application to your law schools also? I think the soft lighting in my picture really set me apart.

Re: Attractiveness and Legal Employment
I think there really is strong correlation between attractiveness and success (i.e. salary)
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/sport ... L-QBS.html
This is an older article (2008) and not even remotely in-depth, but basically, the better looking the NFL quarterback, the more he'll likely make. Probably rings true in the realm of legal employment.

But then again, that quarterback is selling tickets and getting women to watch on TV. We would hope that a client wouldn't choose a firm/or lawyer based on their attractiveness. But then again, its nice to be working long hours with an attractive partner.kilgore_trout wrote:I think there really is strong correlation between attractiveness and success (i.e. salary)

White boys love them tiny asian girls for some reason. As a product of a caucasian father and asian mother, i would have to say:
half asian > full asian
most asians arent 'hot' but halfies tend to be. (see: kristin kruek)

No joke, I almost wrote my personal statement about being ugly. Then I decided against it because it seemed whiny. But, it is unfair how my super cute friends get so many more opportunities than me when they aren't any smarter.

They have to try to be beautiful, you were born smart.

They don't have to try to be cute. My one friend hardly takes care of herself. Her sense of style is dreadful. I, as an ugly person, probably take way better care of myself.Nicholasnickynic wrote:Whats wrong with that?snowpeach06 wrote:No joke, I almost wrote my personal statement about being ugly. Maybe its not about fairness but running a business. but then again, running a business is all about making clients happy. who want to work with hotties. it sure would be helpful if they were smart...Nicholasnickynic wrote:
