Possible to negotiate aid after first year?

Post by BarbellDreams » Fri Mar 12, 2010 8:21 pm

Lets say I go to a school and am in the top 10% after my first year. Is it possible for me to negotiate a scholly leveraging the fact that I could likely transfer to a better ranked school? How would I go about doing this?

Maybe if you were accepted for transfer to a higher-ranked school you could use that as leverage. If they say no, you transfer. But that's all contingent on actually placing in the top 5-10% of your class and getting accepted to a better school. Just making the grades and issuing a threat probably won't work, unless the school has a policy of issuing merit schollys to the top 1Ls.
