Late App USD

Post by sdlaw » Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:25 pm

I finished my application to USD but didn't submit a personal statement until March and a few of my transcripts finally got sent over due to a variety of reasons, faxes not going through etc. I have a 164 and GPA of a 3.34 with a 3.61 in my major (Poli Sci from UCSD). What are my chances of getting in, and is there any shot of getting money? Is my app even considered late since the application was completed but my personal statement wasn't in?

Thank you very much

I probably should clarify, I completed the application in Nov but didn't send in my personal statement until march. I have two years work experience 1 yr sales 1 year marketing both after ungrad. Prior to school I lived in Australia and new Zealand for 4 months in a tent and a van, then worked on a commercial fishing boat. Not sure if that will help. Upward trend as far as gpa.

In your response u suggested "you may have a shot" is this in regards to acceptance or some money?

Thanks

I was discussing admission, specifically. I don't know what your chances of getting money would be this late in the game, though. I know you started your app last year, but you've just now gone complete. I think you should be more concerned about the timing, to be honest, because most schools have already sent out decisions. They're doing second looks for the waitlisted kids and reviewing the people who applied in Jan and Feb. Everything else works in your favor. Upward trend =good. Experiences outside the US = good. Work experience = good. Finishing the app in mid-March = negligible. I think asking the school about their schedule would be your best bet,
