Just Withdrew From Three Schools - I declare Withdraw Day
Just withdrew from Loyola Chicago, the University of Maryland and Miami. I call everyone out there to withdraw from schools they know they are not attending so we can open spots up for those still waiting to get in.
It's Saturday. Let's make today Withdraw Day!

Just withdrew from Hofstra, will make it a goal to withdraw from 2 more schools by the end of this week. (Just need to take a peek at my scholarship offers from these schools one more time.)

Re: Just Withdrew From Three Schools - I declare Withdraw Day
I'll be withdrawing from several this week.
Question: I cast a wide net as a splitter. Now that I have some acceptances that I'm happy with, is there any benefit from waiting on decisions from schools I have no intention of attending? I'm planning on keeping the ones closer in rank to where I'm accepted to have some scholarship negotiating power, but there's no reason to keep my apps at T3 and T4 schools now is there?
I'm figuring no, but would like to hear from others.

How do you withdraw on a Saturday? I meant to withdraw from DePaul this week but didn't get around to it. Let me know. Would love to open up a spot and money for someone else.nick637 wrote:Just did DePaul

Some admitted student websites have a link for withdrawls. For others you can just email admissions@(school).edu...valley splitter wrote:How do you withdraw on a Saturday? There is no reason to wait on decisions from T3 and T4 schools, other than simple curiosity about what their decision will be. But those schools cannot improve your scholly leverage, so it's probably a better idea to just withdraw. Imagine the ego blow if one of them WL's or rejects you, you don't need that.kswiss wrote:I'll be withdrawing from several this week.

It doesn't have to be Shakespeare . . . anything brief, respectful, and including your name/LSAC # will suffice. Just say something to the effect "my circumstances have changed . . ."Hattori Hanzo wrote:Can someone post a copy of a withdraw email sample? I will share my withdraw karma with you
Also: does anyone else think the snarky reverse-withdrawal letter is the single most overplayed joke on TLS?
Edit: Withdrew from BU, W & M, and a ton of T14 waitlists

Although I was very happy to receive an offer of admission from your law school, I have since decided to pursue my legal education elsewhere. Please withdraw my application so that you may open up a seat to other potential candidates.
Thank you,

You're right. My fragile ego indeed does not need that. Thanks for the info. That's what I expected.existenz wrote:There is no reason to wait on decisions from T3 and T4 schools, other than simple curiosity about what their decision will be. Just withdrew from BU, GWU, and W&M (freeing up money at BU and W&M). I've pretty much decided on Fordham, Notre Dame, or one of my WLs, just waiting for the final financial aid figures from WUSTL and BC to come through before withdrawing there as well.
GOOD LUCK!

I emailed BU, almost verbatim what you said above. Filled out and mailed the forms that came with my acceptance for W&M and GWU.sarlis wrote:does everyone just email the schools? and what do you guys say... like thank you for admission, but i am sorry I won't be attending XX...?

Many schools mail you letters to return to them. I know Arizona State and Santa Clara do this.sarlis wrote:does everyone just email the schools? and what do you guys say... like thank you for admission, but i am sorry I won't be attending XX...?

Pretty much say anything indicating you are withdrawing. I'd keep it short and respectful.sarlis wrote:does everyone just email the schools? and what do you guys say... like thank you for admission, but i am sorry I won't be attending XX...?
